At 1880 AG, we are committed to providing our clients with the best federally offered crop insurance and private product solutions to meet their needs. Our mission is to simply help our clients protect their family, business, assets and income.
Did you know the first crop insurance policies in the United States were sold in the 1880's? As a testament to that long history of crop insurance in the U.S., we decided to rebrand our agency to 1880 AG. The name 1880 AG is more ambiguous and inclusive allowing for the breadth of crops and coverages we focus on!
1880 AG operates under the Vine Vest Partners LLC name. Vine Vest Partners LLC, our original name and parent company, was created in 2020 in coordination with Jay Nichols of Vine Vest LLC. We thought the name Vine Vest wasn't inclusive of all of the crops and livestock products we offer which is why we are now marketing under the name 1880 AG.
MPCI insurance policies provide coverage for loss of production or a combination of yield and price coverage. These combination products cover loss in value due to a change in market price during the crop insurance period, in addition to the naturally occurring perils covered by the standard loss of yield coverage.
LRP insurance is similar to a put option, allowing producers to establish a price floor while leaving upside price potential open. Unlike market contracts and options, LRP does not require a margin account or broker, it is closer to the actual ending value of the livestock and is based on cash market index prices rather than the futures market. This federally sponsored & subsidized program typically costs less than other options, is often perceived more favorably by lenders, and may provide additional benefits in terms of lending rates or loan availability.
The Pasture, Rangeland & Forage Insurance Program provides insurance coverage on your pasture, rangeland, or forage acres grown for the intended use of grazing by livestock or haying. This program is designed to give producers the ability to buy insurance protection for losses of forage produced for grazing or harvested for hay, which result in increased costs for feed, destocking, depopulating, or other actions. The PRF program utilizes a rainfall index to determine precipitation for coverage purposes and does not measure production or loss of products themselves.
Dairy Revenue Protection insurance is designed to insure against unexpected declines in the quarterly revenue from milk sales relative to a guaranteed coverage level. The expected revenue is based on futures prices for milk and dairy commodities and the amount of covered milk production elected by the dairy producer. The covered milk production is indexed to the state or region where the dairy producer is located.
Coverage options from companies offering hail, fire and wind separate from your MPCI coverage. MPCI does cover hail, but you typically have a healthy deductible before your MPCI will kick in and pay. A crop hail policy will start paying without a deductible (or a minimal deductible) depending on the coverage you choose.
